But today, we will discuss solutions for your Synology NAS or QNAP and how you can improve your backup strategy.
What is your solution for a backup? Comment below or use the Feedback-Form.
Personally, I got two backup strategies in place. One is a normal backup and the other solution is high-availability solution on a second NAS. The second (backup) NAS is not placed in my house but in my mum's. If a fire breaks here, I am sure I got a backup elsewhere.
If you like to know more about high availability solutions comment below and I will write a new article about.
I got a DS1618+ as my main NAS and as a backup a DS923+ which is placed in my mum's house.
Both NAS are connected using WebDav and backups will take place in the night hours.
Download the app HyperBackup and HyberBackupVault from the package centre and start the app HyperBackup.
Enter the crenditals for your connection to your service and choose which data should have a backup. That's it!
Was not it easy?
In this case there is Synology C2 Cloud there you can save your backups directly from your NAS. Surely, it comes with a price tag for 2TB space you will have to pay EUR 120 / USD 110 If you need more space - say 5 TB it will cost you EUR 300 / USD 290 roughly.
An alternative to Synology C2 Cloud is iDrive - it will cost you for 5TB only EUR 180 / USD 170 p.a. and you got the app already in your NAS. Go to the package centre and search for iDrive.
The service will run in the background and does not harm your system performance at all. I recommend iDrive as I have tested it several months on my MAC, iPhone, NAS und external harddrives. You can also tell the app when your backup should be done and to which time.
I hope, I could give you an insight of how you can backup your NAS and looking forward to your comments. Have an idea or comment then use the Feedback form.
